As you know, we offer two payment methods for non-Australian orders - Card payment (Visa, Mastercard & some Bankcards but not Amex), or PayPal payment (again note: we will request PayPal payment, and in general will refuse any unsolicited PayPal payment).
There are two aspects of the security of your order that we are concerned about.
.. we require that your shipping address can be easily and readily verified against your identity using publicly available on-line resources. Why? Because it's just too easy for a thief to use someone else's credit information and to place an order for delivery to their own address. At least, if we can verify your name against your delivery address, then there's a good chance your order is valid, and it protects us against credit providers claiming we didn't do appropriate checking of your order.
For PayPal, it's a little easier, if PayPal tells us your shipping address has been verified, then we will accept your order. If they say your address is not confirmed we'll either wait until they tell us it is confirmed, or tell you we won't accept your order.
Due to federal privacy legislation we're limited in what we can ask credit card providers about your identity, so we must use publicly available information such as the phone book. For the USA, UK and Australia, this is relatively easy unless you have a silent (ie. un-listed) telephone number, or your telephone is in your partner's or relative's name. Here are some publicly available white pages links that we could use to verify your address :
If you're unsure of your visibility in the phone directory, try the above links. If you can't find yourself, then we won't be able to either.
You may have a silent number for many reasons, we won't ask why, but unless we can associate your identity with a physical shipping address, we can't accept your order. This also means we wont ship to a PO Box unless you can tell us how we can independently associate that address with your name.
The bottom line is that you can always pay with PayPal if it's just too hard to convince us of your identity. If this is a serious problem, then contact us. Remember also that we accept your order on the condition that you can supply sufficient evidence of your identity, and that we can easily and readily access that information. We also reserve the right to refuse the supply of goods to anyone for whatever reason.
